WHY MISSIONS?

Mission Report
Why Missions?

Russia: First Hans Blom went to teach at a Bible school in Magadan. Then David Stockamp, went to teach, too. Summer 2001 and 2002, a group from West Hills went to Asbest, Russia, and 2003 saw Hans Blom return to teach again.

China: Fred Wagner travels to China every year with Intervarsity to minister on college campuses. Some of our congregation have gone with him.

Thailand: A contingent from West Hills went to Thailand in 1990, to establish a relationship with a Thai couple ministering to people in the slums of Bangkok.

Mexico: Several members have gone to Oaxaca to help further the work of our missionary Nancy Jo Hoover. Summer 2001, our high school group took an outreach service trip to Ensenada.

In Portland: Young Life, Prison Fellowship, Portland State Intervarsity, White Shield home for single mothers, Porchlight and Streetlight overnight shelters for kids on the streets, Loaves and Fishes, Peoplebank, Pregnancy Resource Centers, Neighborhood House.

MercyBank: MercyBank is an opportunity for every-member ministry. Church members are mobilized to serve occasionally in areas from yard work to chauffeuring to making meals. We learn both to serve and to ask for help when needed—community in action!
